Steven Gerrard won’t commit his runners-up to providing Celtic with a Guard of Honour at Ibrox next week.
Saturday’s 3-0 win away to Aberdeen clinched the SPFL title for Neil Lennon’s side with the well established convention being for their opponents to clap the champions on to the pitch on their next match.
Ibrox skipper James Tavernier congratulated Alloa Athletic on their sportsmanship in 2016 when the firemen, taxi drivers and bin men applauded the Championship winners onto Ibrox before a 1-1 draw with Mark Warburton’s side.

Light Blues boss Steven Gerrard discussed a possible guard of honour after the game stating: “I don’t know – I haven’t spoken to the club about it.”
A Guard of Honour at Ibrox would go some way towards heeling the bad blood between the two sets of players following the March Glasgow derby.
Andy Halliday led a post match confrontation with Scott Brown that resulted in a retrospective yellow card for the popular utility man who has now lost his place to Jon Flanagan.
Some Celtic fans have suggested that Brown should lead a Guard of Honour by Celtic players for their Ibrox counterparts after finishing above Aberdeen to clinch second place.
