Gary McAllister believes that the outcome of Sunday’s Glasgow derby will have an impact on NEXT season’s title race.

Celtic clinched the title at Aberdeen on Sunday but according to the Ibrox number two Sunday’s clash is far from a dead rubber.

Steven Gerrard has been busy working the free transfer market to bolster his squad for next season with Max Hastie and Jordan Jones already signed up.

Who will manage Celtic next season remains a mystery with Brendan Rodgers’ replacement expected to implement a major overhaul of the squad.

The first matches of next season’s SPFL take place in August but according to McAllister the action gets underway on Sunday.

If we finish the season pulling away from Aberdeen and close the gap on Celtic a little bit, that would be a plus for us,” he told the Daily Record.

If we can finish with two good performances and get two positive results, then that would give us a big high going into the summer.

The players would go away feeling good about themselves. Then it is up to us as coaches to bolster the squad.”

After the match with Celtic McAllister takes his squad to Kilmarnock for the final match of this season while the hoops finish up with a double header against Hearts in the SPFL and Scottish Cup.
