With two years left to run on his contract Sittard will be looking to cash in on Diemers this summer rather than see his value start to diminish as the clock ticks down on his contract.
Sittard finished last season in 15th place in the Dutch league, one point above relegated Excelsior.
Celtic seem to be well covered in midfield but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Leicester City were to come in with a major offer for Tom Rogic or Callum McGregor.
Whoever becomes Celtic manager on a permanent basis won’t be short of midfield options with McGregor, Rogic, Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, Ryan Christie, Eboue Kouassi, Youssouf Mulumbu and Ewan Henderson all reporting back for pre-season.
Unless it is a Bosman deal it’s unlikely that Celtic will be making any moves into the transfer market until a permanent manager is appointed.
Yesterday it was revealed that Rekeem Harper of West Brom was a guest of Celtic for the weekend win over Hearts.
