Celtic have wasted no time in improving the pitch at Celtic Park.

The rugby posts had barely been removed following Saturday’s Guinness Pro 14 final when Premier Pitches moved in to work on the surface.

Last summer Celtic spent £1.5m on a new hybrid pitch but by January there were some bare patches with Brendan Rodgers telling the BBC : “It’s just something unfortunate for the ground staff Nothing that they could have done. It has a slight disease in the surface, which has just been unfortunate really.

“We obviously had a new pitch laid over the course of the last year, which has really helped our game. The guys are working really hard to make that right.

“It’s difficult when you have a spell of games on it. But I’m sure it will get back to the level we would hope it would be at. These are natural things that just take a little bit of time.”

Time is at a premium for the treatment to be carried out with the first match of next season on July 9/10 or 16/17.

Last season the club also installed ‘disco lights’ with stadium improvements coming in at a total cost of around £2.5m.

The new look pitch certainly worked a treat in the first part of the season with Celtic enjoying a 100% domestic home record until March.

More importantly all eyes will be on the new players brought in during the summer as the club looks to build on winning the Treble Treble.

As Neil Lennon mulls over the details of his contract offer it’s expected that he will be looking for a significant transfer budget to put his stamp on the squad.
