Nir Bitton won’t be part of any summer clear out at Celtic.

The midfielder has one year left on his current contract but has only played in a handful of matches over the last two years with most of those appearances coming as an emergency central defender.

Bitton was signed by Neil Lennon in 2013 but with the hoops being linked with David Turnbull it seems unlikely that his playing prospects will improve next season.

“I still have a contract at Celtic so I am staying, I haven’t spoken to any other clubs,” The Sun reported. “As long as I am under contract and Celtic believes in me, I will stay.

“I will do everything I can to return the faith and the investment Celtic have made in in me. Leaving is not an option.”

At the age of 27 Bitton should be able to find a club at a decent level but it looks like he will stay around for another season.

Apart from the loan players leaving and those at the end of their contracts it looks like there won’t be a large turnover of players this summer.

Dorus de Vries, Cristian Gamboa, Emilio Izaguirre and Scott Allan have all moved on with talks on going with Mikael Lustig.
