Celtic reported to be in three way battle for defender

|

Celtic have been linked with a move for Amir Rrahmani.

According to a report on the Belgian website La Dernier Heure the hoops face competition from Standard Liege and Amiens to sign the Dinamo Zagreb defender.

Rrahmani is a current Kosovo internationalist despite winning two caps for Albania and is under contract until 2021.

Celtic have history of scouting in Croatia with Jozo Simunovic signed in 2015 from Dinamo Zagreb with the hoops linked with Filip Benkovic before he moved to Leicester City last summer.

Dinamo paid city rivals Lokomotiv 1.5m euros for Rrahmani in 2017 but last season he only played in 15 domestic matches last season.

With Benkovic and Dedryck Boyata no longer at the club recruiting at least one central defender is a priority for Neil Lennon with the first competitive match of the season only a month away.

Kris Ajer is still in action for Norway while Simunovic’s injury record is a concern with Celtic required to get through eight consecutive midweek matches to reach the group phase of the Champions League.
