Celtic’s interest in Luca Connell lies in the hands of Employment Law.

The teenage Bolton Wanderers player was pictured at Celtic Park yesterday and has handed in 14 day’s notice to his current employers.

Twice last season Bolton players were paid late- forcing the cancellation of a home match against Brentford- with the club now in administration.

It’s unclear whether the players were paid on time their May salaries with their June payment due this weekend.

The Bolton News reports:

WANDERERS’ administrators have turned down a request from Luca Connell to terminate his scholarship contract at the club.

The 18-year-old midfielder was pictured on a VIP tour of Celtic’s Parkhead stadium yesterday along with Hoops chief executive Peter Lawwell.

A move to the SPFL champions looked to be closing in – but The Bolton News understands that after handing in a 14-day notice yesterday, the teenager’s demand has been rejected out of hand.

Celtic and Connell are likely to have taken top legal advise before taking this action with Employment Law over-ruling some of the long standing traditions involved in football contracts.

The 18-year old is about to enter the third year of a Scholar’s contract which replaces the old style apprenticeship that used to be the stepping stone to the professional game.

Connel has come through the ranks of the Irish youth international set up and made 12 first team appearances last season as Bolton were relegated to League One.
