Eboue Kouassi has resurfaced for the first time since his painful visit to Murrayfield in October.

The £2m January 2017 signing was one of Brendan Rodgers’ key project signings but his progress came to a rapid halt in the semi-final of the Betfred Cup against Hearts when he suffered cruciate ligament damage.

After picking up malaria soon after joining Celtic the Ivorian midfielder hadn’t had the best of luck since swapping Russia for Scotland.

While Daniel Arzani spoke last week of his recovery from injury Kouassi has been kept out of the spotlight but yesterday he was part of the 6-a-side tourney winners in Austria alongside Kris Ajer, Scott Bain, Lewis Morgan, Karamoko Dembele and Leigh Griffiths.

Kouassi’s injury opened the door to Ryan Christie who cemented his place in the Celtic side with a run of goals and a new three year contract.

With Ewan Henderson also pushing for involvement Celtic aren’t short of midfielder but the example of Christie is one that can inspire all fringe players to come in from the cold.
