Steve Davis is the latest Ibrox star to bask in the glory of a fourth successive Close Season Cup victory.
The veteran midfielder moved to Ibrox during the winter break, making his debut at Rugby Park on the night Jordan Jones cut short the winter celebrations.
Joey Barton and Nick Kranjcar launched #goingfor55 in the summer of 2016, Bruno Alves picked up the trophy a year later with Allan McGregor and Kyle Lafferty on message last summer as Steven Gerrard arrived to claim his first ever league title.
After his nightmare at Rugby Park Davis was left on the Ibrox bench alongside Borna Barisic and Eros Grezda as Celtic opened up a 13 point lead before the Northern Irish internationalist showed his class with the real trophies out of sight.
Seven new signings costing a combined total of £960,000 has sent optimism sky high again with Davis banging the drum from a luxury training resort on the Algarve.
“It’s unbelievable for me to think it has been eight years since the club last won a trophy,” Davis told the Daily Record. “In my time here we were used to having success every season.
“So it’s rare to have gone so long without one. But when we do pick up that first bit of silverware it will just be all the sweeter.”
In his first stint at Ibrox Davis found himself surrounded by players enticed to the club by secret offshore trusts which the players were told was tax free. The club provided side-letters to reassure those players.
With that scam declared as disguised remuneration by the Supreme Court in July 2017 stars like Alex Rae, Neil McCann, Barry Ferguson, Billy Dodds and Kris Boyd have been served with demands for Income Tax, National Insurance, penalties and interest.
According to the BBC Scotland Davis was given a trust of £600,000 covered by a side letter.
