Celtic have had two bids rejected for Romain Perraud according to respected French publisher L’Equipe.

The same publication broke the news about Celtic’s interest in Christopher Jullien with the Toulouse defender just a medical away from completing a £7m deal.

Left-back Perraud spent last season on loan at Paris FC and seems to have made it very clear to OGC Nice that he has no wish to see out his contract which runs until 2021.

Celtic’s interest will obviously lead to further speculation about the future of Kieran Tierney but it seems to be an open secret that bringing in full-back’s is a transfer priority.

L’Equipe report:

A dozen clubs have expressed interest in the advice of the player. But there really would be two who hold the rope in the eyes of the player and his agents. Starting with Brest who was the first to clearly formulate proposals . Nice refused a first offer and according to our information, still did not respond to the second. And lately, Celtic Glasgow, the reigning Scottish champion, has come forward.

The problem is that Nice has never given a transfer price to the suitors and seems to drag the file. There is uncertainty over governance at the club’s head with a planned sale to British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe. But also because Patrick Vieira would look for a real specialist in this post, so much so that the club would no longer be a salesman and would consider convincing Perraud to stay. That would be the strong trend after the club assured us on Thursday night immediately rejecting the three proposals of the Stade Brestois and the two Celtic Glasgow.

Arsenal appear to have had an initial offer of £15m rejected for Tierney with Celtic believed to be looking for £10m on top of that figure.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka on the brink of a £50m move from Crystal Palace to Manchester United there are obvious comparisons with Tierney. Wan-Bissaka has played just 41 EPL matches and is at best fourth choice right-back for England.
