Neil Lennon has revealed that Boli Bolingoli turned his ankle during the first half of Celtic’s 3-1 win away to FK Sarajevo.

Celtic splashed out £3m last week to sign the Belgian from Rapid Vienna with Bolingoli the only one of Lennon’s three summer signings to start tonight’s match in Bosnia.

Bolingoli played as a wing-back in a 3-5-2 formation but early in the second half, without any contact, he went down with Johnny Hayes going on as a replacement.

Goalscorer Mikey Johnston also picked up a second half knock with Lennon explaining both injuries in his post match interview with Radio Scotland.

Mikey felt a twinge in his quad so we’re hoping it’s not too serious. Boli rolled his ankle in the first half and it just got progressively worse. And James [Forrest] was just fatigue more than anything else, so we didn’t want to take any chances. So hopefully we’re not too stretched on that side of things.

After going a goal behind in the 29th minute Johnston levelled six minutes later with a spectacular long range effort.

Early in the second half Odsonne Edouard put Celtic in front with substitutes Scott Sinclair and Lewis Morgan combining in the 85th minute to put the tie beyond the Bosnian’s with the former Aston Villa man netting with a back-heeler.
