Neil Lennon is confident that Tom Rogic will soon be fit and back to his best.

The midfielder was left out of Celtic’s pre-season trip to Austria and Switzerland with last season blighted by injury following appearances at the World Cup and Asian Championships in January.

Rogic returned from the Asian Championships with a hand injury but scanning revealed a problem with his knee that saw him contribute just one goal, against Aberdeen in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup, in the second half of the season.

The fitness of the 26-year-old has been a regular problem and frustration since he arrived at Celtic in January 2013 but Lennon seemed confident about the prospect of getting the Australian back at full fitness.

He told The Sun:

He’s back out now, he looks great, really looking in good condition so hopefully he won’t be too far away but he’s missed the whole of pre-season so he has a bit of work to do.

Celtic have no more friendlies scheduled to get Rogic and others back to full fitness, Lennon is confident that Marian Shved, Mikey Johnston and Vakoun Bayo will be available for Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier at home to Nomme Kalju.
