Neil Lennon has suggested that Celtic’s interest in Strahinja Pavlovic will be dependent on reaching the group phase of the Champions League.

The hoops boss failed to keep a low profile as he watched Partizan Belgrade in action against Connah’s Quay Nomads on Thursday night.

Pavlovic is Partizan’s most valuable player but no business will be attempted before the final European qualifiers at the end of August.

Celtic are looking to return to the group phase of the Champions League but could end up in the Europa League where the Seb side are potential opponents.

Discussing his midweek trip to Wales Lennon told the Daily Record:

I ended up in with the Partizan fans. That was an eye opener as well. There was an Irishman in the middle of it. He must have got lost! We were looking at a player. I’m just doing my job. I’m not going to divulge who it was obviously.

A lot would fall into place if we do qualify but I’m uneasy talking about qualification as we are still so far off it. We’re making good inroads at the minute but it’s been a very good start.

Christopher Jullien is expected to make his Celtic debut on Tuesday when the hoops travel to Estonia for the return leg with Nomme Kalju.

Lennon is likely to rest a number of his key players knowing that there are four midweek dates during August that will determine whether or not the hoops unlock a £40m Champions League jackpot.
