Celtic’s fringe players will get their chance to impress Neil Lennon in a closed doors match against Manchester City’s u-23 side on Saturday.

Players such as Marian Shved, Vakoun Bayo, Luca Connell, Olivier Ntcham are expected to get some game time after missing out on both matches against FK Sarajevo and are likely to miss tonight’s game with Nomme Kalju.

VideoCelts understands that Saturday’s match was intended for Tommy McIntyre’s reserve squad but with so many players needing game time many of the younger players will miss out.

The visit of City’s u-23 side will also give Lennon the chance to assess any potential loan moves with Daniel Arzani, Patrick Roberts and Jason Denayer making the journey north from the Etihad in recent seasons.

With the EPL transfer window closing on 8 August at 5pm City are getting close to finalising their first team squad leaving a number of players available to go out on loan.

Both Celtic and City have been linked with an interest in Jose Cifuentes with the Ecuador midfielder expected to move to Europe during this transfer window.
