Celtic fans reacted with delight as the Ukranian Messi, better known as Marian Shved, scored on his competitive debut for the hoops.
Neil Lennon sent on the for Karpaty Lviv to replace Nir Bitton in the 70th minute and was rewarded with a stoppage time strike from Shved.
It was a comfortable win for the hoops who extended their 5-0 lead from the first leg in the 10th minute when Aleksandr Kulinits turned a Mikey Johnston shot into his own net under pressure from Leigh Griffiths.
Celtic controlled the game throughout tonight’s action in Estonia despite leaving James Forrest and Callum McGregor at home and putting some of the big hitters on the bench.
Christopher Jullien, Tony Ralston, Craig Gordon and Olivier Ntcham were given their first competitive starts of the season as Lennon made full use of his squad ahead of next week’s trip to Romania to take on Cluj in the next round after they drew 2-2 away to Hapoel Tel Aviv to go through on a 3-2 aggregate.
