St Johnstone are keen to take Tony Ralston on loan from Celtic.

The defender came on for Kris Ajer during Celtic’s 4-1 win away to AIK on Thursday night but knows that his first team chances are extremely limited with Hatel Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer brought to the club in the summer.

St Johnstone have had a desperate start to the season with Tommy Wright eager to bring in fresh faces before the transfer window closes on Monday.

The Evening Times report:

Celtic star Tony Ralston has emerged as a loan target for St Johnstone. Saints are on the lookout for a right-back after Richard Foster’s bust up with boss Tommy Wright saw him shipped out to Ross County.

Ralston made his first Celtic start against St Johnstone in May 2017 but suffered a knee injury four months later and ended the 17/18 season on loan at Dundee United.

Despite Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan moving on at the end of last season he never seemed to be considered a contender to play right-back with the prospect of regular first team football at Perth suiting all parties.

Ralston will be in the Celtic squad at Ibroc tomorroq with his move to St Johnstone going through the following day.
