David Turnbull put in an appearance at Motherwell’s SPFL opener away to Livingston.
The midfielder was all set to join Celtic in June but a routine medical revealed a knee problem that required surgery with the transfer called off.
Turnbull was given a warm reception by the Motherwell support as he took his seat at the 0-0 draw with the scars from surgery obvious on his left knee.

Celtic are expected to return for the 20-year-old once he has completed his rehab but it’s difficult to see where he would fit in with the champions.
Luca Connell and Ewan Henderson were unable to earn a place on the Celtic bench in today’s 7-0 win over St Johnstone where Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie are the established first choice midfielders.
With Olivier Ntcham, Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic already at the club it’s likely that there would need to be some departures before any move was made for Turnbull.
