At 3pm yesterday Craig Levein demonstrated the complete lack of confidence that he has in his players FOOTBALL ability. From the kick-off his players were told to kick the ball into touch as far as possible into their opponents half.
I’m not sure if they do it against other opponents but the rugby style tactic was in use at Hampden in the final of the Scottish Cup last season.
Every domestic manager taking his side to Celtic Park knows that they are up against technically superior opponents and plan accordingly, various tactics are employed with time wasting generally part of the deal.
But no one else surrenders so much that with possession their first instinct is to boot the ball out the park as far into the Celtic half as possible.
Kick-off today – Hearts kick the ball straight into touch, rugby style to gain territory.
Does anyone have any clue why the player who did it would be coached to do so?
The only plausible reason I can think off is a bet – First throw in within 30 seconds, – or What? ????— kerryjim (@bnyf) August 25, 2019
Hearts could have knocked the ball around a couple of players then launched the ball into the sky but Levein’s mindset was something entirely different- hoof it and hand over possession.
The last time that Hearts won an SPFL match was at the end of March when they came from behind to beat Aberdeen 2-1 at Tynecastle.
