After making a distressed plea for bids to come in for Alfredo Morelos Steven Gerrard is apparently distancing himself from interest in Moussa Konate.

Failure to sign Ryan Kent for £7m would suggest that cash is tight at Ibrox but overnight they were linked with a 10m euro bid for the Amiens striker.

Without any quotes or even the thoughts of an ‘insider’ or ‘source’ The Sun reports.

STEVEN GERRARD has distanced Rangers from making a move for Moussa Konate. Reports in France had linked the Senegalese ace with a move to Ibrox, but Gers will not be making a bid.

In a month’s time the Ibrox club will discover the extent of their Sports Direct bill for repeated breach of contract with some informed guesses suggesting that the bill could reach £10m.

The appointment of Gerrard and two fully funded revolutions is likely to have added 50% to the wage bill with Steve Davis and Jermain Defoe on wages in line with their EPL salaries.

Since Gerrard arrived Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Carlos Pena and Kyle Lafferty have been paid off with the only income this summer coming from the £200,000 fee for Daniel Candeias.
