Leigh Griffiths is in the Celtic side to face Dundee in the Reserve Cup at Dens Park this afternoon- with Luca Connell and Ewan Henderson missing after playing in last week’s defeat from Clyde.
The striker scored in each of Celtic’s opening SPFL matches of the season but watched the 2-0 Europa League win over AIK from the bench then found Vakoun Bayo ahead of him for yesterday’s match against Hearts.
Neil Lennon is a big fan of Griffiths as a player and a person but there’s little doubt that he has dropped down the pecking order since scoring from a free kick away to Motherwell.
There are no other first team players on show at this afternoon’s match with the Reserve Cup offering a match this month at Dundee, another fixture at home to Morton next month then a third group match away to Dunfermline in October.
Last week Celtic’s reserve side lost 3-1 to Clyde in the Glasgow Cup with that competition offering at least eight matches for Tommy McIntyre’s squad.
