Neil Lennon has stood by his decision to play Callum McGregor at left-back against Cluj.
McGregor and Scott Brown has played together in central midfield in every competitive match this season but against the Romanian champions the hoops boss decided on a change.
Olivier Ntcham had impressed in the 5-2 win over Motherwell three days earlier but with Ryan Christie returning the Frenchman moved back to central midfield with McGregor shunted to left-back.
Before the match Lennon explained that he wanted more technicians in the side with Ntcham effectively taking over from Boli Bolingoli with a shuffle involved of the midfield and back-line.
It’s not ideal, obviously. We know what a player he is but a midfield of Ntcham, Brown, Christie is very very strong. You know Callum set up the first goal, he also had a chance with a shot, played particularly well, I didn’t think that he was the issue. Our issue was a collective, conceding the second and third goals were of our own doing.
Bolingoli will be playing at left-back tomorrow against Celtic as they begin the painful process of getting over their Champions League knock out.
Celtic face AIK Stockholm in a Europa League Play-Off on Thursday when Lennon will be presented with the same dilemma of having to leave out one big name midfielder.
