Neil Lennon opted for two one word answers when he was asked about Celtic’s recruitment process during the transfer window.

Luca Connell, Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli were signed up before the first Champions League qualifier against FK Sarajevo but since then only Hatem Abd Elhamed has been added.

Only the former Hapoel Be’er Sheva defender made the starting XI for last week’s defeat from Cluj prompting questions about Lennon having £10m of defenders sitting unused on the substitute bench.

Recruitment has been a burning issue of debate among Celtic supporters online with the subject being brought up midway through today’s media conference ahead of the Europa League Play Off against AIK.

Question: Can I ask you about the recruitment process, are you happy with that, with the work that is being done to bring players in?

Neil Lennon: Yes.

Question: Are these the players that you want coming in?

NL: Yes

Those short answers are likely to be interpreted in different ways with Lennon usually fairly expansive and co-operative with the way that he answers questions.

With a £13m surplus so far thanks to the sale of Kieran Tierney Celtic fans had hoped to see significant investment after the club’s interim accounts had revealed £38m sitting in the bank account at the end of December.
