In years to come the summer 2019 transfer window is likely to be one that Celtic fans will find hard to forget.

After two disastrous windows under the Lee Congerton and Brendan Rodgers double act this summer was expected to see bold moves as the hoops sent out a message that they were ready to kick on from last season’s turmoil.

At the end of December the club’s interim accounts revealed that there was £38m sitting in the bank which was boosted in February with compensation from Leicester for the management team with a significant chunk of the wage bill removed.

Luca Connell, Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli were signed up before the first Champions League qualifier but since then Neil Lennon has had little to report on.

The Celtic boss has stated a couple of times that he is hoping to get a couple more in before the next UEFA deadline but so far only Hatem Abd Elhamed has joined the club- while Kieran Tierney departing in exchange for £25m.

With less than two weeks left in the transfer window Lennon remains hopeful that his squad will be boosted going into September.

5 minutes 50 seconds into today’s media conference

There’s no movement at the minute, we’re working. You know I get asked this at every press conference. I keep saying that you can throw names at me, I’m sure that you will but we’re not going to talk about names of players affiliated with other clubs. We are working to bring in three or four players before the window shuts

Earlier today Celtic announced that Jonathan Afolabi had signed a three year contract with the Irish u-19 internationalist joining the first team squad rather than Reserve/Colts squad.
