Neil Lennon has named FIVE positions that he wants to strengthen with the £25m Kieran Tierney windfall.

Celtic enjoyed a £20m transfer surplus last summer after selling Moussa Dembele then picked up £9m compensation from Leicester City in February for their management team with the wage bill significantly reduced over the last 12 months with Dedryck Boyata, Mikael Lustig and half a dozen loan players removed.

Lennon has more than three weeks left to operate in the transfer market and has very definite targets in mid as he attempts to reach the group phase of the Champions League and remain on top in Scotland.

It’s a lot of money,” he told the Evening Times. “I’ll be standing with my hands out. We’ll look to bring another left-back in, no question. And a right back as well. And a left winger. And a right winger. And maybe a centre forward.

We want to keep making Celtic an attractive proposition for any player. We feel we are making steps in the right direction on that. This (the Tierney sale) is a brilliant advertisement for the club and the academy. If we can get into the Champions League then we become a very attractive proposition for a lot of players.”

Celtic will be back at Lennoxtown this morning in preparation for tomorrow’s noon kick off at Motherwell with Cluj to be faced on Tuesday night.

Success against the Romanian champions takes Celtic into a Play Off against Slavia Prague for a group place in the Champions League which would go some way towards helping to get over the loss of Tierney.

If Celtic fall short in the Champions League it could lead to the return of KT… for a Thursday night Europa League clash!
