George Edmundson has destroyed the image of squad harmony with one tweet!

The former Oldham and Ramsbottom United starlet moved to Ibrox in the summer in a £600,000 swoop and has looked an impressive deputy for Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson in the centre of defence.

Edmundson played alongside Filip Helander in Sunday’s 3-0 win over East Fife on Sunday with the £3m Swedish star omitted from the squad given to UEFA for yesterday’s match with Legia Warsaw.

On Wednesday Helander replaced Brandon Barker in the squad but hours before the game it was uncovered that Edmundson was the player that missed out.

Football Scotland, the digital arm of the Daily Record reported:

George Edmundson is at the centre of some confusion after a deleted tweet. In the build-up to Rangers’ trip to face Legia Warsaw in Poland, the defender sent a tweet asking if someone could recommend a venue for him to watch the match in Glasgow.

Although he went on to delete the tweet, Edmundson did not travel with Steven Gerrard’s squad. Rangers have confirmed that the £650,000 signing from Oldham was fit, but was not selected. It is believed that Steven Gerrard will explain the situation at today’s press conference.

On Sunday Gerrard takes his side to face St Mirren with all eyes on the team-sheet to discover if Helander, who was an unused sub in Poland, or Edmundson are included in the squad.
