Celtic fans were in no mood to contemplate the transfer of Callum McGregor to Leicester City.
A report in the print edition of the Daily Mail claimed that an approach had been rejected for the midfielder with Dermot Desmond getting involved with Brendan Rodgers.
On the back of Kieran Tierney’s laboured departure to Arsenal the loss of McGregor is unthinkable although some cynics suggested that the timing of the story seemed suspicious and was designed to portray the Celtic board in a favourable light.
The raw emotions of Rodgers’ departure in February were revived with news of the McGregor bid, it seems that Leicester is the last club that Celtic fans want the club to do business with.
Despite the charm of his new boss Harry Maguire ditched Leicester for Manchester United with the £80m received from that transfer funding the arrival of four new signings with a net outlay of £15m bringing Youri Tielemans, Ayoze Perez, Dennis Praet and James Justin to the King Power Stadium..
With the summer transfer window survived the clock is now ticking towards January when English clubs can again bring in new signings.
Our benchmark is now 30m. Especially for Leicester.

Brendan Rodgers failed last night in a last-minute move to bring Callum McGregor to Leicester City.
Dermot Desmond is understood to have informed Rodgers that McGregor was not available at any price and he will remain Neil Lennon’s player going forward.
