Celtic’s European prospects next season could be decimated by international commitments.

With the hoops facing four rounds of qualifers the competitive action begins in the second week in July which follows on from pre-season training over the last week in June with Celtic favouring an Austrian training base over the last few seasons.

After being excused international duty to get married next month Tom Rogic will be required by Australia for the Copa America which runs from June 12 until July 12 with the Soceroos and Qatar added to the usual roster of competing countries.

Odsonne Edouard looks like being in the French squad for the Olympic Games which runs from July 22 to August 8.

If Scotland can get through two Hampden play-off matches next spring they will qualify for the Europan Championships with Steve Clarke likely to call in half a dozen Celtic players. The group stage will run from June 12-24.

Celtic are used to players having less than a fortnight off in the close season but could well be playing UEFA qualifiers next summer without Rogic, Edouard and the Scottish backbone of their side.
