Neil Lennon has revealed that Nicky Hammond has an on-going role in Celtic’s recruitment plans.

The former West Brom scout was given the unenviable task of trying to pick up the pieces from three disastrous transfer windows overseen by Lee Congerton.

Hammond was brought in at the start of July with barely a full-back at the club, a lack of central defenders and the clock ticking down towards the Champions League qualifiers.

Losing to Cluj in the third qualifying round was a massive blow to the club but the verdict from most supporters when the window closed was that the key areas of the squad had been strengthened.

Hammond was brought in specifically for the summer transfer window but it seems that he is putting together plans for Celtic’s business in January.

Towards the end of today’s media conference Lennon said:

Recruitment is a work in progress at the minute. Nick (Hammond) has been working away feverishly behind the scenes, he’ll report back to Peter and the board, we’ll take a steer from there.

As well as bringing players in an important aspect of Recruitment is moving players on with Jack Hendry and Eboue Kouassi the main players still at the club that look unlikely to have a role going forward.
