Neil Lennon picked up the Manager of the Month award and delivered another message to the snipers.

Sky Sports were in the firing line after Sunday’s win at Ibrox with the Irishman not missing the target as he savoured a victory that almost no-one in the media expected.

Lennon has won more trophies than all of the other managers in the SPFL combined but has come in for strong criticism since he took over from Brendan Rodgers, initially on a caretaker basis.

When Celtic lost at Ibrox in May Hatem Abd Elhamed, Christopher Jullien, Boli Bolingoli and Mortiz Bauer were no where near the club but with less than a dozen appearances between them they formed a backline at Ibrox that provided the springboard for a significant victory.

Reflecting on the opening weeks of the season Lennon told the Daily Record:

The club is united, let’s get that right. There’s been a lot of sniping but we stayed very strong on it and composed and knew what we wanted to do. These things take time but the window has closed and I am every happy with the quality of the squad, the players we have brought in and the players we already had.

Lennon can enjoy a mini-break before returning to the training ground early next week to prepare for the SPFL match at Hamilton and the opening Europa League match away to Rennes.
