They were ushered in more than an hour before kick off- and stayed behind long after the final whistle to soak up a marvellous victory.

Outnumbered 60-1 the Celtic fans almost had Ibrox to themselves as Scott Brown led the players over to celebrate a 2-0 victory in a little corner of Ibrox that was clearly green and white.

Celtic turned in two miserable performances last season as patchwork sides lost out in front of 48,000 baying home supporters.

Neil Lennon’s side were strict second favourites going into today’s match but dominated from the early stages to take the sting out of the home support.

When Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring at the opposite end of the park the fans erupted with joy.

As the clock ticked down slowly through six minutes of stoppage time Johnny Hayes tucked away a second goal and slotted the ball into the net after playing a 1-2 with Allan McGregor.

The journey out of Ibrox may have carried some danger but the memories of a 2-0 win on enemy soil surrounded by 48,000 opposing fans will live forever in the memory.
