Celtic have again been linked with a move for Uche Ikpeazu.

The hoops are expected to bring in a striker when the January transfer window opens but it’s highly debatable whether the Hearts forward would be suitable.

Ikpeazu is the prototype battering ram striker but rarely scores goals! Since joining Hearts at the start of last season he has scored five goals in the SPFL Premiership.

West London Sports reports:

The 24-year-old impressed for the Edinburgh club as they reached the Scottish Cup final last season. They were beaten in that final by Celtic, who have also been showing an interest in the player.

Odsonne Edouard is way out in front as Celtic’s first choice striker but the question of who provides back-up to the Frenchman that is causing some concern.

Vakoun Bayo has scored three times this season, Craig Levein and the SPFL denied him two own goals, but is unproven in Scotland while Leigh Griffiths continues to be troubled by injury problems.

Ikpeazu certainly has something going for him, Chris Sutton is a big fan but his goal scoring record would suggest that he won’t be moving to Celtic. In March he signed a contract extension with Hearts, keeping him at Tynecastle until 2022.
