The day after Neil Lennon revealed that Vakoun Bayo could be out injured for six weeks the striker has been named in the Ivory Coast u-23 squad.

Bayo missed last night’s match against St Mirren after picking up a knock in the 4-0 win over Aberdeen and will have a further scan to find out the extent of the problem- and recovery time.

Despite that news the striker has been called up for international duty as the Daily Record reports:

Crocked Vakoun Bayo has been named in Ivory Coast’s Under 23s African Cup of Nations squad…despite facing potential knee surgery.

The Celtic hitman will see a specialist next week after undergoing a scan with Neil Lennon admitting the imposing striker could face an operation.

But the Ivorians have named him in their squad for the tournament which takes place in Egypt from November 8-22 after claiming they had received permission from the Parkhead side to include him.

Some additional game time for Bayo would be very welcome with just one SPFL start to his name this season.

Despite what Craig Levein and the SPFL had to say on the matter most fans felt that he did well in that match against Hearts, scoring twice in his first competitive start for the club.

Celtic still have to play against Hibs, Lazio and Motherwell before the international break with Neil Lennon keen to get additional firepower and back up for Odsonne Edouard.

Leigh Griffiths is expected to return to full training today but after two months out of action it looks like Edouard will be the only striker available running into the November international break.
