Neil Lennon name checked four top players from the win over Cluj- but forgot Ryan Christie! In the excitement of the night it was easily forgivable as Celtic moved to the top of Group E in the Europa League.

The last time Cluj visited Glasgow Lennon came under attack as the hoops lost four goals to crash out of the Champions League with the new manager firmly the target for critics.

It was open season on everything Celtic but with three new faces in defence last night Celtic earned a clean sheet without blunting any of their attacking threat.

Confidence and momentum is growing in the side, Swedish champions AIK were dismissed comfortably to reach the group phase of the Europa League where Celtic have had the measure of Rennes and Cluj.

Lennon has overseen the development of the side and is purring for more as the season and the Europa League in particular opens up.

Covering his post match media conference The Sun reports:

I think there is more to come. I said to the players tonight that I think we have the makings of a good side. It’s embryonic in the season and I’m not getting carried away but I’m absolutely thrilled and delighted for the supporters as well to have European football back here and a good performance from the team.

Scott Brown was superb. He and Callum McGregor give us a great platform. I thought Elyounoussi was outstanding from start to finish and grew into the game more and more. Edouard up front did some things that other players can’t do.

We are top of the group and it’s a great start. We can get better as we progress and as the season progresses. Home games are really important and it’s great to start with a home win. We want another one against Lazio.

The Italian side beat Rennes 2-1 last night to move into second place in Group E behind Celtic ahead of their visit to Celtic Park later this month.
