Neil Lennon is confident that he will have a fully fit Tom Rogic to call upon in the coming weeks.

The midfielder played his second 90 minutes in the SPFL this season when he came through Sunday’s 4-0 win over Aberdeen but has reported some inflammation on his knee.

Despite being spared international duty during the summer Rogic missed Celtic’s pre-season programme and didn’t return to action until coming on as a second half substitute in the win over Hamilton on September 14.

Rogic was one of the most significant players in Celtic’s Invincible 2016/17 season but since then has been hampered by injures with his influence declining.

Ryan Christie is the clear first choice for the attacking midfield role but after watching Rogic’s rehab Lennon is delighted to have a new quality attacking option.

I thought on Sunday he was superb. As the game grew, as it went on, particularly in the second half, I thought that he was outstanding.

I’m really pleased for him, he’s worked hard. That’s another 90 minutes in his legs, in his body, he’ll really get the benefit of that.

Just at the minute he’s having a few sort of issues with the knee. It’s just 24/48 hours after a game, which is totally natural. If we can keep him fit with the way that he is playing he is a real asset for us.

Christie is expected to return to favour against St Mirren tomorrow with Rogic on the bench.
