Kris Ajer is struggling to come to terms with Celtic’s Europa League win over Lazio.

The defender has played alongside Christopher Jullien in all four Europa League matches so far with the hoops through to the knock out phase of the competition with two matches to spare.

Ajer recently made his 100th Celtic appearance and played a significant role in clinching the Treble but last week’s win in Rome and the aftermath were something that he had never experienced before.

The Sun reports the defender saying:

It’s probably the biggest occasion I’ve been involved in. Winning in Rome with 9,000 Celtic fans behind the goal was absolutely crazy. Qualifying there and moving on to the next round was completely wrong!

At Celtic we have the world’s best supporters who travel around the world and support us everywhere but qualifying from the group with two games to spare is an insanely great achievement for us. It’s very important we continue to perform well now.

Ajer will have to switch his focus to international football over the next couple of days with Norway facing the Faroe Isles and Malta.

Full points from those matches could put them into the European Championship Finals automatically depending on results elsewhere but there is also a possibility of facing Scotland in a play-off for one of the final spots in next summer’s competition.
