Ian Wright is off to Australia to take part in I’m a Celebrity.

The former England striker spent a brief time at Celtic in the 1999/2000 season when John Barnes brought him in on a short-term deal after Henrik Larsson broke his leg.

Wright made a scoring debut at home to Kilmarnock, going on to score three times in four SPL appearances plus four matches coming off the bench.

Most famously he replaced Mark Viduka at half time in the infamous 3-1 Scottish Cup defeat from Inverness Caley Thistle that brought the Celtic career of Barnes to an end. Rumour has it that Viduka refused to go out for the second half among heated scenes in the dressing room.

Wright made his last Celtic appearance in the next match at Dundee before joining Burnley as his career wound down after the highs at Arsenal.

Last year Harry Redknapp won I’m a Celebrity with the series generally used to relaunch careers in front of huge TV audiences.
