Nick Walsh will referee Sunday’s match between Ross County and Celtic with Alan Muir taking charge of the home match against Hamilton three days later.

Neither of those referees were in the running for the League Cup Final on December 8 which looks like it will be given to Bobby Madden, his third Glasgow derby of 2019. Madden hasn’t been given any matches this weekend or next midweek.

Don Robertson will referee the visit of Hearts to Ibrox on Sunday with John Beaton in charge for the midweek trip to Pittodrie.

It’s exceptionally rare for a referee to be in charge of back-to-back matches involving the same club or to be involved in two matches in an eight-day period.

Kevin Clancy has been having a nightmare season as highlighted by his performance in the St Johnstone v Aberdeen match on Sunday while Willie Collum seems to be getting kept out the spotlight after his horror display at the Roma v Borussia Monchengladbach, Europa League tie.

The announcement of the League Cup Final referee is expected later in the week.
