Tom Rogic has avoided a round-the-world trip during the international break.

The midfielder has been involved in a number of club v country rows, at the end of 2018 he missed out on playing in a Glasgow derby in order to report for duty a week in advance of the first match of the Asian Cup. Rogic returned to Celtic with a knee injury and failed to start a club match until April.

The Asian World Cup qualifiers for 2022 are already underway with Australia facing Jordan on Thursday in Amman which will allow Rogic to fly back to the UK on Friday ahead of most of his Celtic team-mates.

Looking forward to the match with Jordan, Socceroos boss Graham Arnold told the Sydney Morning Herald: “Tommy Rogic is back in form. He played a full 90 minutes last Sunday, he didn’t play against Lazio, he didn’t play [Sunday], he’s played good minutes over the last month.”

Rogic should pick up his 47th international cap against Jordan with Jackson Irvine and Harry Soutar also in the Socceroo squad.

While travel is relatively light this month in March Australia have a home match against Kuwait on March 26 before travelling to play Nepal five days later.
