Celtic fans were quick to slam Sam Allardyce’s claim that ‘we could all go up to Celtic and win trophies’.
The former England boss made the claim on TalkSPORT this morning as he discussed the lack of opportunities to mainly English managers.
For the purposes of the discussion Brendan Rodgers is as much an English manager as Sean Dyche and Eddie Howe.
Rodgers made the unusual step from Swansea to Liverpool in 2012 but following on from Kenny Dalglish and Roy Hodgson wasn’t quite breaking the mould.
Over the last decade the top jobs in England have virtually been out of bounds for English managers with Rodgers rehabilitating himself with eight successive trophy wins at Celtic before bolting down the road to Leicester City.
Last week there were suggestions that Rodgers was considered by Spurs as the evaluated replacements for Mauricio Pochettino with Alardyce believing that the easy route to a top job is a brief spell in Scotland picking up trophies against minimal opposition.
Aside from his one match reign as England boss Allardyce is best known for winning nothing as manager of Bolton Wanderers.
“We could all go to Celtic & win trophies! Nonsense!” ?
“Dyche took Burnley to Europe, that beats winning a trophy!” ?
“If my name was Allerdicio I could have managed #MUFC!” ?

These constant Anti-Scottish remarks are really disappointing from a ‘UK’ station…

The problem for Allardyce is he may be a good manager but his ‘perception’ is a old fashioned , 80’s type manager not very articulate and a bit thick . How he behaved in the England job was naive and stupid .In life perception is reality I’m afraid .

Big Sam needs to remember he’s won nothing in over 20 years and even then it was a third division title with a team he got relegated the previous season ?
