After beating Hibs on Friday night Joe Aribo has insisted that his Ibrox team-mates aren’t worrying about Celtic. On Thursday they host Kilmarnock.

The win over Hibs briefly reduced the gap at the top of the table down to two points but within 24 hours the champions had restored their five point lead.

At the start of the month Aribo picked up a runners-up medal in the final of the League Cup with 2019 finishing up on Sunday with another clash against Celtic.

A year ago the two Glasgow sides were just as close in the title race but after drawing level on points at the end of 2018 the pressure told at Ibrox as their challenge collapsed after the winter break.

Last season Aribo helped Charlton Athletic to victory in the League One Play Off and is confident that Steven Gerrard’s side has the edge on Celtic this term.

The Daily Record reports:

Asked if their mentality is too strong to allow anyone else in, Aribo said: “I would say so, yeah. We don’t need to look at what anyone else is saying because they’re not on the pitch.

“We are not really watching them (Celtic) too much. We just know we have to win every single game. If we’re doing that then we’re doing the right thing. We don’t really have to look at what’s going on over there.

“I have the same pressure going into every game, knowing we have to win. Nothing really changes. We know we have to win regardless so I wouldn’t say there is any added pressure. People are going to say things and try to get into our heads. We just have to stay focused.”

Over the last month the Ibrox side have won three of their last seven matches.
