One lucky group of young midfielders enjoyed a day to remember in the company of three iconic players of the 21st Century.

The SFA put together a day long coaching programme ‘Midfield Masterclass’ at the Oriam Centre in Edinburgh where young players were able to pick up first-hand knowledge from Scott Brown, Darren Fletcher and Paul Scholes.

At their peak that trio would have been a match for any team in the country but while the Manchester United duo move into coaching Brown is still very much involved in the front line.

The midfielder made his Hibs debut back in 2002, featuring in a number of midfield positions, before being involved in the most expensive transfer between two Scottish clubs when he joined Celtic for £4.4m in 2007.

That Celtic side featured Shunsuke Nakamura, Aiden McGeady and Paul Hartley with the current hoops midfield seeing Brown playing alongside Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic.

Having captained Celtic to the last nine domestic trophies the 34-year-old heads to Hampden on Sunday looking to lift the first trophy of the season when the hoops contest the League Cup.
