Glenn Murray is the latest striker linked with a January move to Celtic.

With Odsonne Edouard virtually the only option open to Neil Lennon during the first half of the season bringing in new firepower is a priority for the hoops boss.

A new striker falls into one of two categories, young and emerging like Andraz Sporar or a tried and tested marksman such as Murray or Billy Sharp.

According to the print edition The Scottish Mail on Sunday (page 125, 05/01/20) the Brighton striker, who is out of favour and out of contract at the end of this season is on Celtic’s list to increase their striking options.

The 36-year-old has yet to score this season under Graham Potter but 13 goals last season and 12 the season before were largely responsible for keeping Brighton in the EPL under Chris Hughton.

In an ideal world Celtic would be bringing in a 24-year-old striker ready to make an impact and become an asset over the medium term.

With every point essential in the SPFL Murray might be ready to hit the ground running to do himself and Celtic a turn before he becomes a free agent in the summer.
