Celtic fans switched their anger from the SFA to their own club following the decision to uphold Ryan Christie’s two match ban.

The midfielder will miss the matches away to Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock as well Ross County at home on account of disciplinary points from earlier in the season.

Celtic has become masters of the statement, this time around instead of disappointed and surprised they have gone for ‘extrememy disappointed’ with the promise of contacting the Scottish FA on the matter.

That will be the SFA that finally announced in September 2017 that they will review the issues arising from the 2011 UEFA licence- and still haven’t decided more than two years later.

Celtic’s half hearted statement was as predictable as the decision made by the SFA today to reject Christie’s appeal of a two match suspension.

Next Saturday Celtic will begin their defence of the Scottish Cup away to Partick Thistle, in March the SFA will be looking for Christie, James Forrest and Callum McGregor to get the national team through two rounds of play-off ties to Euro 2020.

There is real anger among the Celtic support tonight, perhaps at some stage it will require more than a disappointed statement to convince fans that the directors share their passion and commitment.
