Don Robertson will referee Celtic’s match at Motherwell next week- two weeks after he took charge of the 3-1 win away to Kilmarnock.

It seems that an ever-decreasing pool of match officials are being given Celtic matches with Kevin Clancy being in charge of the December Glasgow derby and the next home match which was the 3-0 weekend win over Ross County.

Robertson was slated by Celtic fans for his display at Kilmarnock with the main talking point being the brutal challenge on Jeremie Frimpong by Alan Power.

The Kilmarnock midfielder led with his left foot then followed through with his right knee sending the Celtic defender to the deck. After six minutes of treatment Frimpong was stretchered off, Robertson refused to award a free kick with the SFA Compliance Officer taking no further action.

In the first 10 minutes of the match Killie keeper Jan Koprivec wiped out Leigh Griffiths going for a high ball, no penalty was given or action taken against Kopivec.

David Roome was one of Robertson’s assistants at Kilmarnock and will again be on the line at Motherwell.

John Beaton will referee tomorrow’s match at St Johnstone with Nick Walsh refereeing Sunday’s match at Hamilton with Douglas Ross as an assistant.
