Celtic fans look like being disappointed as they wait for news of the club making a deadline day signing.

With around six hours to go in the transfer window it looks like Patryk Klimala and Ismaila Soro will be the only additions to Neil Lennon’s squad with Scott Sinclair and Lewis Morgan leaving on a permanent basis.

This morning there were hopes of a late night arrival for Filip Benkovic and/or Victor Wanyama but after a twitter frenzy over the Spurs midfielder Stephen McGowan dowsed down the excitement as he wrote the move off.

After a flurry of fear linking Celtic with Newcastle’s Christian Atsu, McGowan returned to Twitter with a tea-time update.

Celtic fans can now brace themselves for the usual transfer window excuses from the club with the favoured line being that January is a tough window.

With European football so critical to the club it is essential to start preparing for July’s qualifiers by bringing in players in January.

As it stands Fraser Forster, Moi Elyounoussi, Craig Gordon, Jonny Hayes and Moritz Bauer will leave the club at the end of this season. Odsonne Edouard is expected to be in the French Olympic squad with half a dozen players possibly being involved in Euro 2020 during June and July.
