Neil Lennon has dropped some strong hints that Celtic will be active in the final day of the transfer window.

The hoops boss has sent out contrasting messages over the last month or so, initially he was hoping to bring in some experienced players but with two 21-year-olds brought to the club he has been saying that he’d be happy to go with what he has.

Signing a winger and a central defender would be at the top of the wish list for most fans even though the hoops have enjoyed four wins on the bounce since the end of the winter break.

Lennon seemed in a very light hearted mood as he spoke to the media today with something in his comments for both the half empty and the half full elements of the support.

As usual Nick is doing a bit of work in the background but there’s no guarantees of anything at the minute.

Soon after he added

January is always difficult. Clubs not wanting to sell on players not wanting to come. Sometimes in the last couple of days something crops up, very last minute. You have to wait and be patient. I’m not sure, what date is it? The 30th? I might be sitting, tomorrow night, late on, something might happen or something might not.

Asked if it was frustrating or exciting, he replied:

It’s a bit of both, you are left dangling, spinning plates. You think that you are there with one then it falls through. Something happens then you look at other options but at the minute we’re not in any sort of tizzy or panic to do anything.

Technically today’s media conference was to preview Sunday’s match at Hamilton, in reality it clears the diary to concentrate on training and trading tomorrow without any interruptions.
