Ismaila Soro has been given the lowdown on life at Celtic by Vakoun Bayo.

A year ago the striker joined Celtic from Slovakian side Dunajska Streda and spent a month with Kolo Toure before the former Liverpool defender did an overnight flit to the bright lights of Leicester.

Soro completed his transfer to Celtic yesterday and is expected to check-in to Lennoxtown today as his fitness is assessed to see when he can be considered for selection.

The Celtic website reports:

Soro is also the fourth Ivorian to sign for Celtic in recent years, following in the footsteps of Kolo Toure, Eboue Kouassi and Vakoun Bayo, and he explained that he has already been in contact with Bayo.

“He has told me great things about Celtic and the fans, so I couldn’t be more excited to be here at Celtic,” said the new Bhoy.

“I’ve watched a lot of Celtic games recently and I can’t wait to get started here. The stadium is huge and with the reputation of these great fans I know the atmosphere at Celtic Park will be unlike anything anywhere else. The stadium is amazing and I can only imagine how great it will be when it’s full of fans.”

It’s unlikely that Soro will be involved at St Johnstone tomorrow but Neil Lennon will have Ryan Christie back from suspension and Kris Ajer recovered from illness.

With three away games coming up it is essential that Celtic take nine points from these matches to at least maintain their five point advantage at the top of the table.

Lennon is still hoping to add to his squad before Friday’s midnight deadline with an experienced winger the transfer priority.
