Fresh proof has emerged that destroys the claim that Alfredo Morelos was given a yellow card after being sent off in the December Glasgow derby at Celtic Park.

After being given his second yellow card by Kevin Clancy the Ibrox striker made a ‘slit throat’ gesture at the Celtic fans.

In normal circumstances that sort of incident would warrant a charge from the Compliance Officer of the SFA but 19 days after the match The Sun ran with the story that Morelos had been given a third yellow card after the match. That version was backed up by the BBC via an un-named SFA spokesman but it seems that no one told the SPFL website.

In March the SPFL website reported the second yellow card issued to Andy Halliday for squaring up to Scott Brown after the final whistle in the March derby.

A club statement from Ibrox claimed that in Colombia the gesture by Morelos meant ‘Game Over’. Had Morelos been given a third yellow card it would be known to the Ibrox club.

Steven Gerrard spoke regularly to the media during his side’s break in Dubai without mentioning the third yellow card apparently issued to his £50m rated striker.
