Celtic are reported to be showing interest in Moussa Sissako.

The 19-year-old central defender has yet to make a first team appearance for Paris Saint Germain and is expected to quit the French club at the end of his contract in June 2021.

Over the last couple of seasons Odsonne Edouard and Timo Weah have moved to Celtic from PSG with the development of Moussa Dembele and Olivier Ntcham providing a template for other young French players.

The original story appears in the Daily Mail which has a decent track record on Celtic transfer stories with The Sun reporting:

The 19-year-old central defender could be just one of the players Neil Lennon will look to add to the squad. According to the Daily Mail, Celtic have placed Sissako on their list potential January signings.

The Malian is under contract until 2021 but reportedly has no chance of featuring in PSG’s first team and is free to leave. However, PSG reportedly want to agree a sell-on clause as part of any deal for the teenager, and Celtic could also face competition from England for his signature.

With Jozo Simunovic and Hatem Abd Elhamed both out injured Nir Bitton has been the only other central defensive option open to Neil Lennon.

Signing someone without any top team experience would put Sissako in the project category while most Celtic fans would be looking for someone ready to step in or compete with Kris Ajer and Chris Jullien for a starting place.

Celtic currently have Robbie Deas and Stephen Welsh out on loan at Alloa and Morton. This season Sissako has been playing for PSG in the EPL International Cup for u23 sides, in 2017 he played against Celtic in the UEFA Youth League.
