Once again an important Celtic player has been linked with a transfer to Leicester City.
This time it is Callum McGregor, previously it’s been Odsonne Edouard and Kris Ajer but so far there has been no links to Eboue Kouassi or Jack Hendry.
It’s almost a year since Brendan Rodgers quit Celtic to dedicate his life to Leicester City, hostility to the former Swansea manager remains just as high among hoops supporters.
Having soaked up all of the gushing sound-bites from a man who claimed that he was born in to Celtic the feeling of betrayal hasn’t changed. Rodgers seemed the real deal but turned out to be as authentic as a 20,000 lira football shirt from Mehmet’s Bazaar in Istanbul.
The nature of last February’s move more than infuriates Celtic fans. Rodgers attempted to take his entire backroom staff with him on the eve of critical matches away to Hearts and Hibs.
There is no doubt that McGregor, Ajer, Edouard and others will be on the radar of the Leicester boss with further reports and rumours certain in the summer.
McGregor renewed his contract in November, adding a year and more pounds onto his deal. The midfielder has been at Celtic since his primary school days, it seems certain that there is at least one more season after this one for him as a Celtic player.
After a powerful start to the season Leicester have won five of their last 16 matches as the Rodgers factor wears off spectacularly.
